info on some forthcoming morr music releases... artist: manual title: until tomorrow format: lp/cd art.no.: morr music 019 streetdate: 07.05.01 » tracklisting 1) nova 2) velvet sunset 3) it'll be fine 4) frequently 5) lunate 6)inn 7) fortnights 8) baja nights 9) tommorow » info: involved in music since at least 6 years manual aka jonas munk jensen from odense/denmark still is a really young artist, who just "morphed" from former post-rock-guitar days to a brilliant composer of modern electronic music (without forgetting his roots....in a certain way!). after an amazing release on the hobby industries label, manual brings us with his debut on morr music even further melodies and reasons for picking up the guitar from the corner (again). indeed manual masters it amazingly well to overwhelm the listener with strong and soft melodies, soundscapish fragments and fluffy noizies which remind us to bands like to roccoco rot, and some of the newer chicago scene. manual mentions some of these as an influence but denmark in general and manual in particular seems not only in a geographical meaning really self-supporting. the combination of classical acoustic intruments like his skills on the guitar/bass/piano with droning and sweeping synth sounds and crackling electronic beats fixes broken pieces together and let you drift away in memories. manual songs are principal downtempo ´cause this fact gives him the space for the big bunch of melodies he presents. listenig to it, we are reminded to asphodils in spring, with dew on it (of course). sunny and dreamy ,manual draws a flowery picture of overwhelmig coulors within his wellstructured and arranged songs. no doubt, he has the potential to convince fans of modern electronica and hoboken neo-folk and bring them all together to smell the buds of spring in the garden of jim o´rourke. beside his solo project manual, mr. jensen plays plays guitar in the band limp, studies at the university of odense ( we guess philosophy....or flowers!) and will putt out a 7" on static caravan early spring. artist: bomb the bass – lali puna title: clearcut format: ep/cd art.no.: morr music 018 streetdate: 01.04.01 » tracklisting: a1. clearcut _ bomb the bass - lali puna a2. recut _ herrmann & kleine b1. clearcut opiate version _ opiate b2. clearcut amx _ arovane b3. clearcut amstel mix _ christian kleine » info many people may have frequently asked themselves where the man behind bomb the bass disappeared after producing some of the first dance records some of us have listened to in their lives. well tim simenon (as you may have guessed this is his name) is now living in amsterdam, doing what he always did, making great music (he also started his own label now but that is another story). doing so he finally got in contact with the never sleeping morr music people which are proud to present some more of tims decent beats. as if this wasn't enough, tim simenon joined forces with the marvelous chanteuse valerie trebeljahr and markus acher of-lali puna-fame who once again provides some incredible vocals and additional recordings on this track. mere uptempo hip hop inspired beats, a bouncy bassline and a deep, dubby vibe topped with the wonderful warmth of valerie trebeljahrs voice make clearcut a blistering masterpiece. and while it is an honour for most of us who danced as teenagers to tracks like 'beat dis' morr music friends arovane, christian kleine, herrmann & kleine and copenhagens finest opiate couldn't wait to get their fingers on the track to deliver four additional mixes. four delicate remixes between sparse distorted breaks, shining melodies and hip hop influenced elektronika. let’s all bomb the bass. artist: isan title: salle d´isan format: mlp/cdep cat.no.: morr music 017 release date: 16.04.01 » tracklisting a) days & later 5.13 – bubbles8 0.54 – disruptive - elephant 3.23 b) fullen brimm 3.25 - salle d´isan 0.38 – serene - driver 4.14 » info isan, that´s robin saville and anthony ryan, who met in sunny circumstances in leicester/uk.the term isan stands for "integrated services analogue network", and beside other reasons it reveals their interest in using dodgy old keyboards to make dodgy old noise. but with their new 6 track mlp on morr music even the listeners who are new to the isan network will soon reckognize that the definition of dodgy old noise and analogue synth-sounds becomes a completely new dimension. isan´s music is a kind of ambilvalent thing: simple but pure, noisy but clear, strange but true, to mention only a few. the past of this band was couloured with a bunch of 7"´s, several wide spread contributions, various lp´s (for example cat.no.003 on morr music ...) and so on. due to the constant quality of isan´s work it´s not a surprise that they soon got an invitation doing a john peel radio show and an overwhelmig feedback from the music press. the nme e.g. compared isan a bit to plone and isan don´t really complain about that. they mention being influenced by artists like brian eno, stereolab, autechre, my bloody valentine... - being involved into the isan sound network you´ll drop the name isan equal to their influences to your very best (girl-)friend and/or you´ll find yourself whistling their beautiful melodies on several sunny circumstances as well. another important merit of isan is maybe to completely calm you down because every piece of robins and anthony´s music creates an amazing feeling of being "distant" to every unnecesary thought, so just sit back, relax and let yourself go. the intention of isan to ignore common 4tothefloor dance-patterns doesn´t prevent you from finding yourself on a ship of it´s own rhythmic; sometimes it steames and rolles and later on it just seems to slide over a sea of melodies and all around you things just disappear and fade away... +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ phonem (morr music/ hausmusik & indigo & kompakt) 04.05.2001 nl- amsterdam -
